Kuala Kubu Bharu is a historic city as it is a new city was planned by the City Planner during the British period for the Federation of Malaya. In those days the city of Kuala Kubu Bharu were planted with high-value trees such as mahogany and Tembusu. After almost 84 years the trees have grown up and has been home of many species of birds and animals.

Hulu Selangor District Council feel responsible and proud to share the advantages of the natural world with the tourists and the community. Therefore, Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) has been organizing the Wings Of KKB 2014 WA Birds Race for the third year at 25 to 27 April 2014. Program more lively this year with the participation of Resorts World Genting as an organizer in the second year and cum sponsor of this program.

The main objective Wings Of KKB is organized is to foster awareness among the public and especially to the students in the importance of the environment through birdwatching. This program will put Kuala Kubu Bharu and Hulu Selangor in Malaysia tourism map through its own privileges available in this area in terms of history, heritage and the beauty of its flora and fauna.

As mentioned by Ms. Katherine Chew, Vice President of Communications and Public Relations Resorts World Genting, the second engagement this year shows the determination of Resorts World Genting in a program to create awareness among tourists and the public about conservation and the environment. He added that Genting Highlands Resort is one of the areas of conservation and habitat protection registered under the Important Bird Area MY10. It is one of the valuable assets on behalf of Genting. Many species of birds can be found in the special Genting as Great Hornbill, Rhinoceros Hornbill, Fire-Tufted Barbet, Red-headed Trogon and upland bird species that can be seen all year round here. With the involvement of Genting Highlands as one site competition, it also can promote birdwatching in Genting Highlands Resort.

In addition to organizing this time is to enliven and support the Visit Malaysia Year 2014. It is seen to attract foreign tourists, especially bird watchers to come and be a participant in this organization. The organization retains the third time this school category and the open category for the competition to identify birds. Apart from the two categories have been added to the category for college and university students as well as bird photography contest. Among the side events available to enliven the Mini Explorace program is for students of primary and secondary schools. To ensure that everyone can enjoy and share the beauty of the natural world , we have invited special children in Hulu Selangor and share with them to identify the basic program of birds.

As in previous years , the school category will be held with the students will observe birds around the city of Kuala Kubu Bharu . As for the open category, college and university students as well as bird photography contest , participants need to move to 10 checkpoints set started with 5 checkpoint in the City of Kuala Kubu Bharu , Millennium Park , Upper Hot Springs Guest , Education Recreational Forest River kedondong and ends at Resorts World Genting . This makes the " Wings Of KKB " as the first bird-watching competition in Malaysia that requires participants to move from one altitude to an altitude of others . With this, the participants had the opportunity to see and identify a variety of different species according to differences in elevation from sea level .

Based on a series of surveys that have been made by the secretariat, some interesting species to be discovered by the participants, Oriental Pied Hornbill and Coppersmith Barbet at Kuala Kubu Bharu, Black Crested Bulbul, Red-wattled Lapwing in Millennium Park, Little Cucko Dove and 3 types Munia in Hot Springs Hulu Tamu, Whiskered Myzomela in Education Recreational Forest River kedondong and many species of birds in the Genting Highlands mountain.

The organizers have provided prizes for the winners. Race for the Birds event , the winner will receive a prize of RM10, 000.00 in kind " Outdoor " for the third - the third category. For bird photography contest winners , prize up for grabs Nikon D3100 camera for each participant. The Resorts World Genting also provide prizes for 2 days 1 night accommodation at First World Hotel and gift side .

Visitors also have the opportunity to win prizes through a lucky draw will be conducted during the program run. Hulu Selangor District Council hope that the organization was more lively and positive impact on the entire population of the District of Hulu Selangor particularly in preserving the environment.
